In the tradition of Queer protest and the role of dance floors in the history of Queer activism, The Pride March and Pride Party has formed the high point of Auckland Pride since 2018.
We’re back again this year, so come with us on a journey to reclamation, power & queer joy!
You’ll be gathering from 2pm at Aotea Square, formalities and all the fun things from 3pm with the march beginning at 3:30pm.
The March ends and your party begins at 4:30pm Takutai Square, Britomart filled with food stalls, activites, DJs from Tāmaki Makaurau; Brown Boy Magik. Vercetti & Blush.Mp3 and headlined by the force that is, PATI AF.
- Pati AF; formerly known as Disciple Pati, is a singer/songwriter hailing from South Auckland. She has been in the music industry professionally for the last two years and has been working on her new body of work. Her most recent body of work, still in the process of being released, is an eclectic body of music originally a piece made for theatre. She has released three new singles this year and we’re crossing our fingers for a mixtape release April 2024. To date, Pati has opened for The Beths, Paigesspace, played with Betty Anne Monga, and performed at Milk & Honey Festival, and Cuba Dupa. This year she has produced & curated her own shows, releasing three singles from these shows. PATI AF is looking forward to bringing the energy to Auckland Pride!
- Standing at the forefront of global club music in Tāmaki Makaurau, VERCETTI is a Niuean/Cook Island DJ and multidisciplinary artist. Stepping into the booth, his sound, deriving from his upbringing and intersectional identity infused with skilful genre-bending creates a presence and energy that is dynamic & unparalleled, garnering attention from prominent Aotearoa nightlife & music fixtures such as Dance Therapy, Nightside and Auckland Pride. VERCETTI has had the privilege to play for some of the country’s most prominent collectives such as Glass Half Full, NYMPHO and All My Friends & has opened for international artists such as Lady Shaka and Jasmine Infiniti.
- BROWN BOY MAGIK’ is a Niuean/Samoan interdisciplinary artist and community facilitator from the villages of Alofi Tokelau, Avatele, Vaimoso, Vaialua and Utulei – Tutuila. He is a prominent producer, musician, composer and DJ in Aotearoa known by the moniker of ‘Brown Boy Magik’. A highly experienced facilitator in both grassroots collectives and larger projects *BIG ENERGY ARIES , he is a founding member of Bodyhaus + Fully Explicit, a club night for and by LGBTQIA+ communities, and Fanau Spa, a nine-person music ensemble.
- One to watch within Tāmaki Makaurau’s electronic scene – BLUSH.MP3 is a selector, promoter, artist and superstar. Their sound is all-encompassing, genre bending and fast paced. Notable gigs Blush has played within the last year include Cross St. Festival, Deep Hard And Funky, BASSMENT Local Roll Call, BFMs Fancy New Band Showcase and opening for internationally renowned artist duo 100 GECS. Blush is also the co-founder of DOLLHOUSE – a club night celebrating the queer community, specifically QTBIPOC, through global club music. The goal for all of Blush’s sets is simple: to make you feel hot, sexy, alive and free through good music, great blends and stunning energy!
